Bungonia
The Bungonia State Recreation Area (SRA) is a nature reserve just a few kilometers from Marulan. The SRA is about 35 kilometres (21 miles) east of Goulburn and about 125 kilometres (77 miles) south-west of Sydney, and it adjoins the Morton National Park.

The area features dramatic cliffs, gorges and a network of caves. Besides caving, it is popular for bushwalking, camping, and various types of adventure activities. A popular attraction is "The lookdown", a lookout that offers spectacular views of the Shoalhaven River, Bungonia Gorge and Bungonia Creek.
Many fossils can be found along the various walking tracks in the area.
The appearance of the area is currently marred by the presence of an adjoining limestone quarry. The quarry is to cease operations by 2011, followed by site remediation.

Towrang Stockade
The History of the Stockade only 12 Km north of Goulburn is not based on what actually occurred within the Stockade but what led to the stockade becoming a Goulburn land mark of Australian Cultural Heritage. The History of Goulburn books ,of the Adventures of the Great South Land, the discovery of a bush aboriginal girl who spoke perfect English and local court journals of the early 1800 contribute to the history of our Australian culture and the Stockade. There is no signage or directions there yet. To discovery what remains of the Towrang Stockade one must appreciated the suffering endured there. DO NOT go down Towrang Road looking for the stockade! It is in the Derrick Rest Area and between Towrang Road and Carrick Road. Divided in two by the Freeway. The main entrance is on the Freeway verge and an emergency vehicle access gate in Carrick Road.

Big Hill Observatory
Located at Big Hill, just 20kms form Marulan, the Big Hill Observatory is a private amateur observatory. Housing two telescopes that are computer controlled, these telescopes are used for visual observing, astro-photography and amateur scientific research.
